Questions founders ask. Straight answers.
How VC alignment works, how to find the right investor, and what to expect from pre-seed to Series A. We've got your six.
What is VC alignment?
VC alignment means matching a founder with the venture investors whose thesis, stage focus and check size actually fit the company, then closing any gap in the team, product or pitch before the first meeting. It is the core of what Veil6 does, so founders only spend time with investors who can say yes.
How do I find the right VC for my startup?
Start with fit, not fame. Look for funds that invest at your stage, back your kind of company, and write checks in your range. Then check that the partner you would work with has a record with founders like you. Veil6 does this mapping for you, and you can submit your deck to start.
What is the difference between pre-seed, seed and Series A?
They are stages of a company's funding journey. Pre-seed is usually the earliest outside money, used to build and test a first product. Seed supports finding repeatable customers. Series A backs a business that has proven its core and is ready to scale. Exact amounts and expectations shift with the market, which is why fit matters more than labels.
What do investors look for in a pitch deck?
Investors want a clear problem, a product that solves it, a market big enough to matter, early proof that people want it, a team that can build it, and a specific ask. They also read for honesty: what works, what does not yet, and what the money will change. A short, clear deck usually beats a long one.
How do I get a warm introduction to a venture capitalist?
A warm introduction comes from someone the investor already trusts, and it works best when the founder has been vetted first. If your material clears Veil6's review, we introduce you to our network with context, so the investor knows why you were sent. Start on our submit page.
Does Veil6 take equity?
Not for services. Consulting such as recruiting, custom builds, security and go-to-market is paid work, and your cap table stays yours. Veil6 only takes equity when V6 invests directly in a company. Read more on our thesis page.
What is the Veil6 Accelerator?
It is a premium, hands-on program for founders at the very beginning, taking them from idea to MVP to a first paying customer. Cohorts are small, there are four a year, and founders keep a lifetime relationship with V6. See the Accelerator page.
Can Veil6 help me find a co-founder?
Yes. Founder pairing matches exceptional builders with founders who need them as co-founders, or helps them get selected to join VC-backed startups. It is free for candidates. Learn more on the founder pairing page.
Is security part of being ready to raise?
It can be. Founders who think about security, data and risk from day one build companies that enterprises can buy from and investors can diligence. Veil6 treats security as a founder skill, and it is one of the five disciplines we offer alongside VC alignment, talent, custom builds and go-to-market. See our approach.
Who is Veil6 for?
Veil6 works with pre-seed, seed and Series A founders in any industry, and with investors who want to meet pre-vetted founders matched to their thesis. We are based in the San Francisco Bay Area and work with founders worldwide. If you are an investor, see for investors.
