The opportunity
A founding-level backend role building an AI-native operating system for outpatient clinics. You act as your own product manager, designer and researcher: talk to clinics, decide what to build, and ship it fast.
A small, well-funded New York healthcare startup building its own AI-native medical records and operations system so clinics can run largely on autopilot, rather than another add-on for legacy software. It is backed by top-tier healthcare and venture investors, and clinics that rarely switch systems are switching to it.
What you will do
- Build across the platform with strong backend engineering at the core
- Talk to customers and own what gets built, why and how
- Pay down technical debt and speed up customer onboarding so growth never stalls
- Research, experiment with and ship new applied-AI capabilities
- Work daily with the founding team
What you bring
- Roughly 2 to 7 years of strong backend engineering, ideally in zero-to-one or one-to-ten settings
- A computer science or related degree
- Real product and UX judgment; you build things people actually use
- Comfort building AI products with AI tools every day
- Speed and a strong desire for more ownership than your current role gives
- A real interest in fixing how healthcare works
- Willingness to work in person in Manhattan, about six long days a week
Nice to have
- Some product management experience on top of engineering
- Something you built that reached real revenue or users
- Venture-backed startup experience
Pay and benefits
- Salary range: $185,000 to $250,000 per year. This is the range the client expects to pay in good faith. The final amount depends on experience and other job-related factors.
